The CAPRO™ program was developed to support the expanding responsibilities of EMS professionals who oversee public communication, community engagement, and agency representation. The course was designed by industry leaders with decades of combined experience in EMS leadership, crisis communication, media relations, and public affairs.
CAPRO™ students will learn the principles of how a PR person can protect patients, providers, and the organization while improving, understanding, and strengthening public confidence in the EMS system.
The CAPRO™ course features two days of classroom instruction and examination taught by nationally recognized EMS industry leaders and award-winning media professionals who understand the critical function public relations officers play in shaping the trust, funding, workforce stability, messaging, and public perception of their agency.
Through interactive workshops, participants will receive hands-on media training, practice responding to crisis situations and incident communications, and develop strategies for building community relationships and telling the story of their agency while protecting its reputation when challenges arise.

CAPRO™ certification requires four hours of continuing education annually to maintain certification.
